A new chapter in life begins. Harvard, a relaunch of a business and more.

Today I've arrived at Harvard Business School where I'm in a three year program. I'm nervous but anxious to get started.

The program is a month long each year and it's complete immersion with classes Monday through Saturday. You live on-campus with the other students so when you aren't in actual class you are studying with them or working on the projects together.

I'm here for a number of reasons, most notably to make better decisions. I need and want to learn the advanced financial and analytical skills that they will teach me. Too much has gone wrong in the last couple of years and I feel that sometimes it's better to take one step backwards so you can take two steps forward.

Old habits are hard to break though because in the midst of all of this, I'm finally ready to relaunch one of my businesses. I know it sounds crazy after everything I just said about going back to school but this has been in the works for many months. I'll be taking a new site live in a few days but only for people to sign up to it. I won't be sending out newsletters or selling "the product" until after the first week in June when I return.

I know that's only a teaser of an announcement but it's a strategy that I've been working on a for a long time and I'm eager to show it to everyone as most you all have seen is me selling things off. I'm happy to be going the other direction again.

I just felt like posting a little rant because even though it's raining outside, it feels like a warm and sunny new day to me.

    Rick,
Back to school, this is awesome. I am doing the same right now but I am doing mine at Liberty University majoring in International Business.
May God give you the strength to see your visions through.

Brilliant move, Rick....Harvard's one of the best, of course - it'll freshen your thinking, stretch your mind, give you core basics of business, and give you confidence - not to mention credibility with the VC business types when you crack a great concept! Harvard will give you a fantastic network of contacts, too.

Let me wish you all the best.

Very smart move Rick...the real money is made by investing in the smartest people on the planet...and you will find bunch of them at Harvard.

Quickly scoop up 10 top students at Harvard and start the next FACEBOOK project.

    Earn billions...not millions!

    Good Luck!

Further educating yourself is never a bad thing and you're doing it for the right reasons! Congrats on getting in at Harvard. What was this I heard about Kevin Ham going to Harvard for a crash course recently?

I just started a new business myself, hardly Harvard worthy though - http://www.domainnamesales.co

Oops. Meant to say awesome and congratulations. Enjoy Boston but doesn't sound like you'll be seeing much of it.

If you are coming to Cape Cod or want to come to Cape Cod, let me know and I'll give you a great tour.

    100% support.

I dropped out of High School myself at age 16 to focus on business and at times it crosses my mind to go back to the states and study a few courses to expand my knowledge rather then to keep going through the hard way, go in blind half the time only to later learn from my mistakes. Though the good thing is each time I lose, I at least learn some valuable lessons on how to do better in the future. As many times as I've lost in projects, I've also been fortunate enough to win big whenever projects were a success.

I really applaud you for doing this, Rick. Good luck. And Harvard is such an amazing place with such talented people. Make the most of the opportunity.

Rick, It's funny you posted this because I have been going "back to school" myself, busy learning new things about web development, domaining, etc which is why I haven't blogged lately. We all need refreshers from time to time as things constantly change. You're doing a good thing for yourself. Good luck to you and I look forward to what you produce in the future.

  • Braden

    Good luck buddy

Good Luck Rick. I agree, sometimes taking a step back is the best way to take many steps forward. Challenges happen, learn from them, take that knowledge and go.

Please share some of the best stuff that you learn, especially about pricing. Also contracts. IMHO you could have set higher brokering and sales fees in the past, given the value and liquidity you provided to transaction processes.

I'd like to know why you aren't paying your customers that contract with you to sell our expensive watches. I've been waiting over two months for payment. Other posts on the internet have the same problem. What kind of scam are you running? WatchBrokers.com will steal your goods.

  • Tnt

Are you seriously confused, burned out or just to lazy to get a real job? Second is the fact you will refute and not publish this truthful comment.

  • Nick.

Why not just hire people with those skills - and be disciplined with their advice. I see a mob boss going back to school.. kinda depressing but i know your ass will be back. Or maybe what youre really doing is being a sheep in wolfs clothing. I give you 8 months. :) Take those kids give them startup capital and become a VC :)
Theres such a credit crunch out there its crazy - Its people like you who have that ability to help out small businesses and make $ not walk away from the craziness and madness. Then again - you dont owe anyone shit.. so All the best RIck. Just my thoughts - Going to school wont make you better at analysis.. but the're hungry people out here who will be 40 times better than you will be in 3 years with no jobs or hungry to prove themselves. Harvard aint what it used to be.. hehe. :) Cheers mate.
