Publish.com - Can we Crowd Source a domain sale?

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION

If you are on my newsletter, you would have gotten an email from me yesterday about Publish.com. In it, I stated that competing brokers are welcome. My intention is to create as wide of a net as possible to get the name sold and achieve maximum value for the seller.

This is a test of sorts but not the only name we are going to test this way. After all, one transaction doesn't make much of a test at all.

In the Real Estate business, there are listing brokers and selling brokers. When one agent lists a house for sale, all agents are welcome to show that house. This is how it has been done in the United States for many years and try as they might, By Owner services haven't penetrated much of the market.

So in that spirit, I'm welcoming any and all brokers who can bring a deal to the table on this premium category killer domain. If you bring the buyer, we will share the commission.

One only needs to open a newspaper to see a story about the publishing industry's ills. Self publishing and digital publishing are crushing the old establishment and will continue to do so. We all knew this would happen in the mid-90s when the web was born but most were in denial about it until the symptoms were too severe.

Publish.com is timely, it's valuable and it defines the action that one must take to have their works read.

Please contact me if you know someone in the industry or think you can bring a buyer to the table. Let's work together and change the way business is done in the domain brokerage industry.

    Hi Rick,

I totally agree with you that this is the best sales model for both buyer and seller. What is needed now is some clearing house similar to the MLS (multiple listing service) that brings brokers together. I will be looking forward to hearing more about this new approach.

This is just what I was thinking too!
I have an auction ending today that has languished and was wondering what I could do to promote the event... crowd sourcing could very well be the way to go.
