1968 Rolex OP Milgauss 1019 Automatic Watch

You can learn a lot more than just the time of day from watches. For instance, I didn't know that gauss was a term used to measure a magnetic field. I did know that mil was latin for 1000, though.

The Rolex Milgauss was thus aptly named as it can withstand a magnetic flux density of 1,000 gauss.

This is a rare and very collectible watch as buyers in the 1960s who worked in power plants, medical facilities and research labs apparently didn't think the feature was as important as Rolex headquarters thought it was. In other words, Rolex didn't make that many of them.

The Milgauss we have is in excellent condition, works perfectly and has an elegant yet classical design. It's very clean in appearance with the red MILGAUSS on the face and the red tip on the second hand giving it just enough attitude to pleasure the owner.
