Congratulations David Clements for launching Cheesecake.com today

My friend David Clements who many of you know just launched cheesecake.com. I'd like to congratulate him for making that leap from a domainer to an website manager. They are very different animals and he's handling the transition well so far.

I like the site he's developed and he's clearly put plenty of up sells on it.

I know he's been working furiously getting the site ready for Christmas season.

I'll buy a cheesecake or two (for someone else as its the last thing I need). I hope you do too. And if you run a blog, throw a link up on it to help him with some Google juice. He's been working hard in this industry since he got in it and could use your support.

He can put up a machine like this: http://www.canneszions.com/coca-cola-like-machine-publicis-edologic/
In front of a cheesecake factory, let people taste and like it in real time etc.

    Good luck David.

Thanks for the post, Rick. Cheesecake.com also has healthier options like fruit baskets and fruit boxes. Not surprisingly, they are not the top sellers. The current top seller is our Strawberry Swirl Snack-Size Cheesecake dozen. They're only 2 ounces each and each one has less than 200 calories.

M, As cool as the idea is, I think that the only time that the teenagers wore those ugly bracelets was for the camera.

I checked it out, nice looking site. Found an issue within about 12 seconds though - clicked 'shop by price' and seeing a > $200 section thought "I wonder what kind of Cheesecake sells for over 200 bucks". Anyway, clicking it I got "No items available in this category".

If there's nothing in the category, remove the category, it just wastes peoples time. *Every* single link on your site should lead to something interesting, no exceptions. It's the extra 1% of detail that, along with the awesome domain, will differentiate you.

You're right dp, it's all in the details. We have the Over $200 section for "Cheesecake of the Month" club, which will run over $200 for the 6 and 12 month products. We are still in our soft launch phase and we just don't have all of the inventory loaded yet.

Congrats. Christmas starts early huh? Or is it already too late to ram up a few sites to take advantage of the christmas buying season? What are you all doing with your websites/development to prepare for the Christmas buying season? Please share your thoughts on some low picking fruits so we all can have a jolly ol' Christmas.

I was poking around the site the other evening - it looks really well and is a great use of a domain name
