You just can’t make this stuff up. Our shinny new hotel was raided yesterday

So yesterday I blogged about finding this Oasis of a hotel actually called The Oasis. It’s a brand new and very comfortable resort outside the city of Montgomery.

The plan was to take a day off from cycling and work and rest our legs. I didn’t even leave my hotel room until after our auction ended around 1 pm. After that I was heading downstairs to Starbucks to get a coffee.

As soon as I came out of the elevator, David came running towards me saying, “Go pack, we have to get out of here. We are all being kicked out.” I look around and people are running in all different directions.

There’s a time to ask questions and this wasn’t it. I went up to my room, grabbed my camera and packed. I couldn’t have been up there more than ten minutes or so.

As soon as I got back down the place was a ghost town.

All but one of the doors had been chained and the turnstile was blocked with furniture.

We were told that anyone on the property was subject to arrest. I suppose David’s television interview can explain it the best.

    Rick,

    Life is stranger than art.

    What is your astrological sign?

Your chart has not been aligned with the 2010 cosmos

    TRAFFIC, OASIS,… ?

Rick, continue to learn and grow because life would also be so boring if you didn’t, I know as new experiences come in you grow and you see things differently and it’s part of the new changes and pathways that we have to create. But you also have to believe in yourself to know that you can make that change and grow.

So remember never stop learning and growing and also remember there is always people out there who know more!

  6. Rick Latona on February 5th, 2010 11:29 am

Ben, I started the day I left on this trip. No training or practicing, whatsoever.

Andrew, the video has been fixed.

Glad you’re safe, and as soon as you mentioned
Montgomery, AL — I knew something would go a
    bit crazy.

Sounds like something straight out of National Lampoon’s, LOL. And you thought climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was going to be adventurous… all you have to do is just roll into Alabama! :-)

Great post and fun series, have fun the rest of the way.

You just can’t make this stuff up. LOL:> What an adventure. It;s starting to sound like “Fear and Loathing in New Orleans”, (aka “FaLi Las Vegas” by Hunter Thompson)

Only in Alabama. Our Governor and the Gamblers (actually bingoers) are in a fight to the death. Too bad you had to be caught up in it?

Would have been funny if Rick was riding his bike in the background during the interview - lol. I was waiting for it.

This is book material! Start writing the story and sell it as an eBook for Kindle and the iPad! Then have Morgan Freeman narrate the movie, when they produce it!

“I remember when my business partner and I took a bike ride, but it wasn’t the kind of bike ride you just take for fun. This was a long bike ride. And it got longer, the longer we rode.” LOL!

    ;-D

Some of these hotels and convience stores can not survive without this extra gambling income!

gambling and weed should be legal in all states!
