T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Down Under – Final Thoughts – Auction Results

November 23rd, 2008 by Rick Latona

After sleeping a personal record of 9 hours on the flight home, I’m rested and getting back to work.

Overall, I’m very satified with the way the auction turned out. I have to admit my expectations were low. The timezone and the economy were certainly not on my side.

I’d like to also point out that the guys at Fabulous.com did a really incredible job throwing the show. It was certainly one of the best I’ve been to.

AcidRefluxRelief.com $600.00
Adopt.com.au $400.00
Campsites.com.au $1,300.00
CharterAirplane.com $2,750.00
CR.com $150,000.00
Cuba.me $600.00
FreeCellMinutes.com $400.00
Friend.com.au $3,500.00
GasCost.com $1,000.00
GolfClubs.org $5,000.00
GranolaBar.com $3,800.00
History.com.au $8,500.00
Honored.com $2,250.00
InEarHeadphones.com $420.00
InfantFormulas.com $500.00
Inspecting.com $2,000.00
Instruments.com.au $2,200.00
Lousy.com $3,750.00
ManagingDiabetes.com $1,100.00
MealReplacement.com $1,250.00
MelbourneHousing.com $300.00
Monitors.net $5,000.00
Packed.com $1,750.00
Patients.net $1,250.00
ProBasketball.com $5,500.00
PsychicAdvisor.com $2,250.00
Returning.com $500.00
SanJuan.com $150,000.00
Settling.com $710.00
Sildenafil.com $4,000.00
SnowBoards.com.au $6,000.00
SoreJoints.com $850.00
StockExchange.com.au $7,500.00
StockInvestment.net $710.00
StockSymbol.com $6,250.00
Thinner.com $15,000.00
TomatoJuice.com $5,250.00
ww.com.au $2,250.00
Total $406,390.00

Clearly the .au names were popular which shouldn’t have been a surprise considering we were in Australia. This only confirms my theory and supports my decision to focus solely on ccTLDs during my own show in Amsterdam this coming June. More on that coming soon.

  1. Sounds like I missed a great show!

There are some nice sales from your Auction list – Im glad to see you close so many domains.

So are you going to be doing any othe shows between now and June or is time to relax after that killer flight back home.

    Regards,

    Robbie

  2. BobWhite.me says:

Some of those prices look low. Maybe its just me (newbie domainer). When you say ccTLD’s, what countries? UK, Germany, …? My first sale a few weeks ago was a .de. I only own one, but does anyone think .me will ever make it?

  3. Rick Latona says:

Robbie, yes we will be at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Silicon Valley and probably a couple of others that we are working on now.

Bob, there were certainly some real bargains on that list.

  4. Rhys says:

Congratulations on the domain sales. I am working on purchasing numerous ccTLDs.

How do you apply for the show in Amsterdam?

  5. Rick Latona says:

I’ll announce here on my blog when the show website is live.

  6. Reza Sardeha says:

It seems the economy actually does have an impact on the domain business as well. This also reflects on other trading sources like Sedo. It looks like only Europeans are still actively buying.

Its also good to hear that the show drops by in Amsterdam I’m definitely going to attend.

  7. Welcome back Rick….glad your auction did well. We will finally get to meet…I am headed to the Traffic Silicon Valley show with Tracy and Becky from my company….

  8. GenericGene says:

Their has never been a better opportunity for the owners of generic directory domains to build directories with them, a domain can be considered worth a $1k or $1M the real value is in the actual generic directory name and the potential it has for search engines and (the domain bar eliminating the need of search engines)
    - top level generic directory domains have the advantage of generic email and web page addresses that are unique -
this brings the generic directory domain into a category of their own in pricing – $$$$$

  9. [...] Rick Latona had this to say after the Traffic DownUnder show had finished “Clearly the .au names were popular which shouldn’t have been a surprise considering we were in Australia. This only confirms my theory and supports my decision to focus solely on ccTLDs during my own show in Amsterdam this coming June. More on that coming soon.” [...]

  10. Scorpiono says:

After checking these domain names I understand why you refused to broker my silly hyphen web-master.me

Good show, I’ll blog about this.
When is the next auction going to be?
