What is the problem with Network Solutions?

Why do they have to make life so difficult? I'm trying to transfer out two names that were registered there only four months ago. Both the names are unlocked. I called their support department and they told me they had to open a trouble ticket to their engineering group. Then after that, I get this email:

Dear Rick Latona,

Thank you for contacting Network Solutions Quality Processing Department. We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible.

We have received your request to remove the Transfer Lock on your domain name, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.  In order to remove the lock we must first validate you as the rightful contact on the account.  Please fax a statement requesting the removal of the lock from the applicable domain name along with the information below for validation purposes prior to removing the transfer lock.  Upon receipt, validation will occur and the lock will be removed within 24 hours.

- Since your name is registered to an organization please supply a signed statement requesting the lock be removed from the applicable domain names. Please print the request on Company Letterhead, or provide a Business License, Company by Laws, or trademark papers.

Please also include a photo copy of your state issued ID or Passport. The signature on your ID should match the signature on the request.

On your fax, please refer to Service Request #XXXXXXXXXXX.

Please fax the information to:  XXXXXXXXXXXX.

If you prefer, you may scan the documents and email them to the address below.

    Perhaps this is NetSol's new way of slowing down transfers now that ICANN has clamped down on holding domains for 60 days after a change to the whois.

    Thank you for the yearly reminder to never send domains to Network Solutions. I maintain a list of a few other disaster registrars, but no need to bash everyone in the same day. Beyond the point, but what internet-based company still relies on fax machines?

    I have used them once and had no end of trouble from now on I only use GoDaddy as there hasnt been any trouble with them... but I know alot of other people have but you just got to stick to your guns and use what you know best.

    At least youre not having the problem 80% of their users are right now with sporadic email connectivity. According to their tech support, they dont know what is wrong and are just losing email continuously since yesterday.

    Regardless, they suck.

    About Net Sol, they aren't the only damned registrar playing this game. Go Daddy does it too in certain incidences, and a lot of resellers play this same game. My response is to just threaten them with non-stop negative publicity, which actually gets them to "work with you". I think commenting on this in your blog is your first step.

    However, Netsol's marketing department already has been decimated, and they've accepted the fact that 2008 is a bad bad year for them... bad press, bad moves, desperate actions, lame ripoffs, cheap business practices. How much more bad press can they get until they join the current domain world?

    They are still living in 1999 when they charged $70 a year per domain registration (was that the amount?).

    Hey, I'll work with you to dog them to get those domain released without you having to actually "photocopy" your driver's license.... man, what an obvious beginning of ID theft...

    I can't believe, with so many better options out there, people are still using NetSol. I also red a report by Lord Brar today some users are ranting about NetSol for stealing their subdomains. I agree with Steve, above, it is time to deal with greedy thugs that run Network Solutions.

    I too have had transfer problems with NetSol. They are foolishly looking at the short term gain of keeping a domain inhouse, while losing long term by keeping customers from coming back. I also remember that they charged me $50/month to simply Forward a domain name without their ad banner running on the forwarded page, which is free everywhere else! Don't know of they still charge for that.

    Stupid, stupid company.

    As for Godaddy -- I have thousands of names there and have never once had a problem. In fact, they have assigned me a rep whenever I want them to do any work for me.

    Shashi, I faxed in all the required documents and got it taken care of. I never asked for an executive lock to be placed on thosee names. You guys just did it and made me go through all of those extra steps.

    Netsolution is the crapiest and worst registrar I have ever ever seen in my life.
    From bottom of their heart they know how to KICK out their customers after first time.
    Their PUSH is the hardest and most complicated thing I have ever seen.

    Few days ago i got a domain and i wanted to transfer it to another account but my oh my
    i almost smacked my screen with their stupid questions and complicated system.

    Godaddy is soo easy..

    I think netsol has to change else they will become the shittest company around..

    Well, this might be a way that they can continue to charge you for two months to make more money. I am waiting for a transfer unlock myself from network solutions. It's frustrating.

    Networksolutions are absolute idiots. I have been trying to transfer two domains away from them for almost three months. I began a month before the domains expired, jumped through all of their hoops and got the transfer passwords. I initiated the transfer from the new registrar and it did not go thru. REjected by NS was the email from the new registrar. After a number of re-attempts I learned that NS turned the "Domain Protect" lock back on. They say it happened automatically. So I jumped throught he hoops again, turned off the Domain Protect lock and reinitiated the transfer with the new registrar. Unfortunately the amount of time that it takes for the new registrar to get the paperwork accepted by NS is apparently longer than the "automatic" re-lock of the domain protect. How convenient is that? By the time I figured this out the domains had expired. I convinced NS to give me a 30 day extension. This time they actually offered to lower their Highway Robbery fee from the $30 range to around $15. By this time it was a matter of principal. I declined the offer. I began the transfer process over and over again, I even went in and turned off and on the domain protect in hopes of resetting the "automatic" timer that turns it back on. Still no luck. I keep getting emails from the new registrar (APlus.net) that the transfer was denied. I have also been told by NS that the transfer was never gotten from APlus. Another month has passed and the domains expired again. I call NS again, request another extension, they say it will take at least a day to go into effect. It is now a week later. They both still show "expired" on the NS site.
    I am so frustrated with these people I am considering spending a lot more than the $30 they wanted for renewal to file a legal action against them.
    If you are using them, I recommend removing your domain from their control as fast as possible (not that I think it is possible at this point). These guys are headed for the trash heap. The company cannot last long with practices like these.

    I'm going through the same headaches with them right now! Unbelievable. It's like they make it so difficult to leave as an attempt at keeping themselves from losing business. It's really obnoxious.

    Yes. Me too, I can't move my domain to another registrar, they lock my domain and don't gove me a code for transfer. This is against their transfer policy and rules on their website. :-( ((

    I THINK I LOST MY DOMAIN NAME WITH NETSOL.COM - BE CAREFUL WITH THEM :-( ((
