Ah, day 3. It’s just us and the rocks. Have I mentioned it was getting cold? Here we were at about 12,000 feet or 3600 meters. Throughout days 3 and 4 we walked from 12,000 feet, up to 15,000 feet, back to 12,000 feet, then back up to 15,000 feet, etc. That was partly because the peak was so far away but mostly to get us acclimated to the atmosphere. I’m sure we ended up walking up at least twice the height of the mountain by the time we were done.

I really wish I had taken more pictures of this part of the journey. There was an 800 foot wall we had to climb. If I wasn’t holding on for dear life through most of it I would have been snapping more pics. What’s amazing is that the porters just walked right up the wall with those damn bags on their heads.
